Houston Christmas: merry and bright

Before heading off for Christmas in New York we hitched together a Houston Christmas event which included a dinner of Brazilian Churrascaria, a tour of the Christmas lights on the mansions in River Oaks and a present opening sessions via Skype with Vince's family who were celebrating Christmas Euro-style on Christmas Eve.

When it comes to Christmas lights, the locals have really done Texas proud; they were certainly bigger and better than any we've seen before.  The photos just don't do them justice as it was near impossible to capture the scale and sheer size.  But here goes...

My favourite - spheres dangling from a massive Oak.

These we named "drippy trees" of which there were plenty

This property had two driveways which were about 50m apart.  Just a modest home!

One of the front gates of the property above.  The lantern had a real flame.

On the corner of River Oaks Blvd where the biggest of the crazy big houses are.

We weren't the only people to be out viewing the lights but most people did it from their cars, very convenient.
Pretty..

Beautiful fountain lights with helpful people standing underneath to provide scale.

And from underneath...

And just to top it all off, the house at the end of the street (next to the country club) had a Shetland pony
in the front yard... as you do!
Next up... New York - yayyyy!!!
